Manville, NJ – Oleksa Pidwirnyj, 91, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Foothill Acres Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Hillsborough. Born in Ternopil, Ukraine, son of the late Michael and Martha (Romano) Pidwirnyj, he came to the United States and resided in Jersey City prior to settling in Manville.

Oleksa retired in 1983 as a butcher having been employed in New York City. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church in Hillsborough. Oleksa enjoyed the outdoors and gardening always sharing the fruits of his labors with those he loved.

Besides his parents, Oleksa is predeceased by a step-daughter, Anna Glines and sister, Natalka.
Oleksa leaves behind his loving wife, Wasylyna "Lena" (Iwasiutyn) (Jasinowsky) Pidwirnyj, with whom he joined hands in marriage on July 8, 1989; devoted step-children, Myra Recchia of Fairfield, PA, Oksana Mastropietro of Ringoes, and Chrystina Satanik of Hillsborough; dear brother, Ivan Pidwirnyj. He will be deeply missed by his cherished step-grandchildren, James, Cheryl, Aimee, Kevin, Adam, Eric, and Jesse and adored step-great grandchildren, Devon, Levi, and Lindin.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Friday, July 26 from 6-9 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. parastas service and on Saturday, July 27 from 8-8:30 a.m.

Funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Saturday, July 27 at 8:30 a.m. followed by a 9:00 a.m. funeral service at St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church in Hillsborough. Oleksa will be laid to rest at St. Andrew Cemetery in South Bound Brook. Memorial contributions may be made in Oleksa's name to St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church Building Fund, 1700 Brooks Boulevard, Hillsborough, NJ 08844.
