Manville, NJ- Patricia 'Pat' (Bradley) Durrwang, of Manville, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on February 3, 2011, after a valiant four-year battle with breast cancer.

Born in Schenectady, New York, November 2, 1938, to William and Pauline Durrwang, Pat attended Mount Pleasant High School where she played field hockey and was a trumpeter in the marching band. She went on to attend Wagner College, Staten Island, NY and became a member of Zeta Tau Alpha; she graduated with a Bachelors degree in Biology.

After college, she married and raised three children and five foster children in Manville, NJ. She worked as a bookkeeper for The Messenger Gazette, Somerset Press and City Publishing. Later, she became the devoted caregiver for the Dowdall-Flegg Family and found her joy nurturing their two beautiful daughters.

Pat was very involved in Girl Scouting in upstate New York, Massachusetts and with the Rolling Hills Girl Scout Council in New Jersey. Scouting allowed her to share her passion for camping, gardening and traveling. She was very proud to have visited all 48 contiguous US states and 6 continents; including hiking Machu Picchu in Peru, riding a camel in Morocco and climbing the Great Wall of China. Pat strongly believed in blood donations and donated over 100 pints of blood to the Somerset Medical Center after her eldest daughter survived a horrific car accident and was saved by blood transfusions. Over the last 15 years, she also enjoyed stage managing and volunteering at the Somerset Valley Players in Hillsborough and more recently prepared meals for Manville Meals on Wheels. Pat was also a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Hillsborough.

Pat is survived by her three children and their spouses: Dawn and Randall Mathewson of Roseto, Pennsylvania, Darryl and Laura Bradley of Danville, Vermont and Sarah and Shaun Leighton of London, United Kingdom. She is also survived by 4 energetic grandsons: Austin, Haakon, Declan, Clay and a brand new granddaughter, Gwendolyn Patricia; her sister Karlie Walsh and her husband Walt of Burnt Hills, NY and 4 nieces, 4 nephews, 3 grandnieces and 2 grandnephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Monday, February 7 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday, February 8 from 10:00-11:00 a.m.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 8 beginning 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Bonnie Fee officiating. A burial and graveside service will be held in Schenectady, New York later in the spring.
