Piscataway, NJ– Patricia Dorothy "Pat" (nee Hutchinson) Davey, 93, passed away Friday, May 11, 2018 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital-Somerset in Somerville, NJ. Born in Balaclava, Jamaica, West Indies, Pat was the daughter of the late Percy Oswald Hutchinson and Phyllis Douet Lofthouse.
During WWII, Pat worked at the U.S. Army base in Jamaica. It was there she met Eleanor Roosevelt, calling her "a very gracious lady."
Pat emigrated to the United States after World War II and made New York City her home where she attended the Katherine Gibbs School. She proudly became a U.S. citizen in 1959. After marriage, Pat resided in Plainfield and Bridgewater, NJ and then settled in Piscataway over twenty-five years ago.
After over thirty years of dedicated employment with GAF Corporation in South Bound Brook, NJ as a secretary, Pat retired. She was an excellent seamstress and cook. Pat was an avid gardener and loved to travel. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed being with family and friends.
Pat was predeceased by her beloved husband, Royce Davey on March 16, 1994; and her brother, James Hutchinson. She is survived by two loving sons, Michael Davey and his wife Lori of Manville, NJ and John Davey and his wife Kathleen of Oneonta, NY. Pat will be deeply missed by her four cherished grandchildren, Caitlyn Davey, Sean Davey, Alison Latourette, and Ashley Kurtz; and three great grandchildren, Corbin, Hunter, and Carter.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate committal words and interment on May 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made in Patricia's name to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
