Somerset, NJ- Peter Lengyel, 86, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center in Edison, NJ. Born in Rahway, son of the late Michael & Helen (Kozar) Lengyel, he was raised in Hillsborough and after marriage to his beloved wife Mary he resided in Fords and Metuchen before settling to Somerset forty-eight years ago.



Peter was honorably discharged from the United States Navy as a TMT3 after faithfully serving his country in both World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion Post #12 of Somerville, Thomas J. Kavanaugh Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2290 of Manville and the United States Navy Memorial.

Peter retired in 1991 from the Haagen-Dazs division of Pillsbury International formerly of Woodbridge where he was a stationary engineer and supervisor for many years. Peter was an avid offshore fisherman usually off Belmar and the Atlantic Highlands.

Besides his parents, Peter was predeceased by his four dear brothers: Michael Lengyel, George Lengyel, Charles Lengyel & Andy Shoka; dear sister Mary and his grandson Michael G. Lengyel, Jr.

Peter leaves behind to cherish his memory: his beloved wife of sixty-two years, Mary A. (Hencoski) Lengyel with whom he joined hands in marriage on September 5, 1948; four loving children: sons Michael G. Lengyel of Trenton, Peter J. Lengyel and his wife Lynn of Somerset, Daniel P. Lengyel and his wife Diane of Cary, NC; daughter, Deborah A. Aidukas and her husband Chuck, Jr. of Millstone Township; three dear sisters: Betty Stano of Ringoes, Kay Lengyel and Helen Perhach both of Hillsborough. Peter will be deeply missed by his eight adored grandchildren: Amanda, Sarah, Matthew, Kelly, Kerry, Cameron, Kaitlyn, Daniel, Jr. and by his expected first great grandchild to be born in December.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Thursday, November 4th from 5-8 p.m. and on Friday, November 5th from 9-10 a.m.

The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Friday, November 5th at 10 a.m. with Fr. Gregory Hosler officiating. At the family's request the disposition will be private.
