Longwood, FL. Peter Zurawiecki, 65, loving son, brother and uncle, entered into eternal life on Sunday, June 26, 2022. Peter was born in Mysliborz, Poland, son of the late Bazyli Zurawiecki and Maria (nee Putiatynski [a] ) Zurawiecki. His family settled in Manville, NJ when he was four, where he resided until 1987 when he moved to Florida.
Peter was a devout Catholic. He served as an alter servicer his whole life. He attended Sacred Heart School in Manville through 8th grade and graduated from Manville High School in 1976 as a member of the National Honor Society and was voted MVP of the Manville HS Football Team. Peter helped run the weekly bingo games at Sacred Heart and also worked the annual Sacred Heart Carnival. Peter went on to graduate from Rutgers University, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Peter was first employed as a bank manager in Manville. He also served his community as a firefighter with Manville Fire Company # 1 and a member of the Manville Board of Education during the 1980's before his move to Florida.
Upon moving to Florida, Peter worked for the Federal Government as an auditor for the National Credit Union Administration until his retirement. Peter's favorite pastimes included watching classical movies, the New York Yankees, and golfing, but the best times were having breakfast with his nephew Christopher on Saturday mornings.
Peter is survived by his devoted Mother, Maria (Putiatynski); brother, Anthony and wife Karen Zurawiecki of Monroe Township, NJ, sisters, Mary and her husband Mark Schindel of Millstone Township, NJ and Anna and her husband Chris Kolos of Longwood, Florida. He will be deeply missed by his cherished nephews, Nicholas, Christopher, Andrew, Matthew and Ryan and nieces, Jennifer and Sophia.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Sunday, July 10 from 3-6 p.m.
A funeral liturgy will be held on Monday, July 11 beginning 9:00 a.m. at Christ the Redeemer Parish (Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church) in Manville. Committal words and interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ the Redeemer Parish, 98 S. 2nd Avenue, Manville, NJ 08835.
