Manville, NJ- Richard W. Maychrich, 68, entered into eternal life on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at St. Clare's Hospital in Dover, NJ with loving family by his side. Born in Somerville, NJ, son of the late William and Sophie (Repka) Maychrich, he was a lifelong resident of Manville.
Shortly after graduation from Manville High School Class of 1966, Richard joined the United States Army to serve in the Vietnam War. He attained a ranking of SP4 and received numerous medals and commendations most notably the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ 60 Device, Army Commendation Medal, 2 O/S Bars, 1 st Class Gunner Machine Gun M60, 1 st Class Hand Grenade, Expert Badge Rifle M16, and Sharpshooter Badge Rifle M14. Richard was a lifetime member of VFW Post #2290 in Manville. After his service time he spent several years working at Johns Manville in Manville. Richard retired after many years of dedicated employment with the United States Post Office as "the mailman". He loved sports especially horse racing; many family trips included a visit to the local horse racing track. Richard never missed a sporting event that his two sons participated in, and carried that tradition on with his granddaughter Caitlyn. His favorite football teams include the Detroit Lions and the San Francisco Giants; he was also a season ticket holder for the Philadelphia Eagles, having passed those tickets on to his sons. Trips to Atlantic City were also a favorite pastime. Spending time with family and friends brought him great joy, especially time spent with his granddaughter. He was a parishioner of Christ the Redeemer Parish (Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church) in Manville.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Debra M. (Farano) Maychrich. He will be deeply missed by two loving sons, Richard Charles Maychrich of Manville and Mark W. Maychrich of Manville; two dear sisters, Mary Ann Winterholder and Joan Trainor; an adored granddaughter, Caitlyn Maychrich; many cousins, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Monday, December 11 from 5-9 p.m. and on Tuesday, December 12 from 8-8:30 a.m.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 12 beginning 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 9:00 a.m. funeral liturgy at Christ the Redeemer Parish (Sacred Heart Church) in Manville. Committal words and interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough.
