Obituary

Robert "Bob" Bennett, age 82, of Manville, NJ, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025. A man of strength, loyalty, and a generous heart, Bob leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and devotion to family.

Born in Newburgh, New York, Bob was the son of Minnie (née McLaughlin) and William Bennett. He was lovingly raised by his mother and stepfather, Henry Drake, in Bound Brook, NJ. Bob was one of a large and loving family. He shared his life with siblings William Bennett, Joan Bennett, Constance Bennett, and Florence Bennett, as well as Henry Drake, Frank Drake, and Bruce Drake. Bob cherished the bonds he had with each of them, as well as with his many nieces and nephews.

Bob was a proud and caring stepfather to Peter Gordon (married to Adrien), Dawn Gordon (married to Jim), and Eric Gordon (married to Jodi). He took joy in being a grandfather to Annika, Justin, Beck, Jeremy, and Logan—each of whom brought light and laughter into his life.

He was the beloved partner of Joan Golden, with whom he shared many cherished years in Manville, NJ. Their relationship was filled with love and laughter. They were true companions—supporting, caring for, and bringing out the best in each other. He held a special place in his heart for Joan's family. Bob had a close and loving relationship with Joan's children: Carol Boock, Luann Goldfarb (married to Marty), Terri Turner (married to Rick), William Golden (married to Susana), and James Golden; grandchildren Lisa Lyons (married to Sean) and Maria Golden (fiancé Michael Wilkins); and great-grandchildren Caleigh, Colin, Claire, Camilo, and Cruz.

Bob proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1967, a time he held in great honor. Following his military service, he worked for Devro in Somerville from 1969 until his retirement in 2009.

Bob had a passion for photography, often capturing the beauty of nature through his lens. He also enjoyed the excitement and thrill of visiting casinos.

His kind heart and dependable nature will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
