Manville, NJ – Rose Gromack, 94, departed this earth peacefully at her home in Manville, NJ on Thursday, April 11, 2013. She was born in New Brunswick, NJ on May 18, 1918 to her dear parents Guiseppe and Catherine Maccarone Amoroso.

Rose was employed at RCA, Timex, and Bonds Clothing Factory. She was a Member of the Christ the King Altar Rosary Society, Ladies Auxiliary Post 2990, and Senior Citizens, and a communicant of the Christ the King Church in Manville. Rose was one of the Camp Kilmer U.S.O. Hostesses of WW II (also known as the "Camp Kilmer Sweethearts") and was one of the seven Amoroso Sisters called in as a group to Camp Kilmer U.S.O. sendoff shows for troops going to war. She served as a WW II Air Raid Warden in New Brunswick where she was schooled at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Rose was a kind, caring, generous person, and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Rose is survived by her loving children, David and wife Linda Gromack of Annandale, and Cathy and husband Hutson Kittell of Belmar; two dear sisters, Josephine Zancarella of North Brunswick and Carmela Tobias of Texas. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Gromack (1974); three brothers, Thomas Amoroso, Salvatore Amoroso, Joseph Amoroso; and four sisters, Mary Amoroso, Antoinette Casale, Sara Wisnoski, and Nancy Dima.


Viewing will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2013 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at Fucillo and Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835, (908-725-1763).

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 15, 2013 starting with a viewing from 8:00 to 8:30 am at the funeral home followed by a 9:00 am Funeral Mass at Christ the King Church, Manville, NJ.

Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hillsborough, NJ.
