Sandra Julene "Sandy" (née Wilk) Podobed, age 74, passed into eternal life on  Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, New Jersey, in the presence of her loving son, Daniel III. She was born in Somerville, New Jersey, to the late Julius and Eleanor (née Mamienski) Wilk, and resided in Manville, New Jersey, before moving to Washington, New Jersey, in 1981.

Sandy was a graduate of Manville High School with the class of 1969. She went on to earn an Associate's degree in dental hygiene from The New York School of Dental Assistants in New York City, New York. Her professional journey began as a supervisor at Fotomat across various locations including California. Sandy's career as a dental hygienist took root at Hillsborough Dental, where she dedicated many years of service. Afterward, she served as a activities director at Hagedorn Psychiatric Hospital in Glen Gardner, New Jersey. Before retiring due to disability, she also worked as a baker at Quick Check in Washington. Sandy was a believer in the goodness of the Catholic Church and was formerly a parishioner of Christ the Redeemer Parish (Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church) in Manville. Her greatest passion in life was her loving family, including her chocolate lab, Kodi.

Sandy had many hobbies and interests including home decorating and crafts of which she had a particular talent especially around her favorite holiday, Christmas. She enjoyed traveling as well. We frequented many places on family vacations including Hershey, Pennsylvania, Atlantic City, Virginia Beach, Daytona Beach, Orlando, and more. She loved traveling to Jamaica with her husband, Daniel, and they were planning their 10th trip before she passed.

Besides her parents, Sandy was predeceased by her brother, Dennis Wilk.

Sandy is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years, Daniel Podobed, Jr., whom she wed on July 14, 1979, and will be profoundly missed; she is also survived by three devoted sons, David Podobed and his wife Debra from Butler, New Jersey, Chris Podobed from Stewartsville, New Jersey, and Daniel Podobed, III from Washington; her adored grandson, Julian Podobed; niece and nephew, Kimberly and Justin Wilk; and her dear cousins of which there are many, but particularly Megan Pernigotti, Nialetta "Ni-Ni" and her husband, Chet Makowski, Ricky and Maureen Wilk, and Mary Ann Starinsky of Arkansas. She will also be dearly missed by her best friend, Virginia Snyder and her husband Tommy.
