Hillsborough, NJ - Stella M. (Piskorowski) Utasi, 94, passed away peacefully on 9/23/2016 at Bridgeway Care Center in Hillsborough, NJ.
Born in Oil City, Pennsylvania, she was raised on a farm in Hillsborough, New Jersey, the third of eleven brothers and sisters. She married her husband, the late Joseph Utasi, in 1942. The couple lived in Manville, NJ for 62 years before moving to Avalon Assisted Living of Hillsborough. Joe passed away on May 6, 2010.
Stella was an avid flower gardener, at one time having a garden with over 50 varieties of roses. She worked as a machine operator at Johns-Manville Corporation for 35 years, retiring in 1976. Stella was a member of Sacred Heart Church, The Johns-Manville Quarter Century Club, The VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #2290, and the Senior Citizens Club of Manville. She also volunteered as a Cub Scout Den Mother for Troop 193.
Surviving are her two sons; Joseph Utasi and wife Maureen of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Robert Utasi of Crestline, California. She is also survived by two sisters; Johanne Costanzo of Hillsborough, NJ, and Genevieve Stanski of Bordentown, NJ; two brothers: Joseph Valen of Flemington, NJ, and Frank Piskorowski of Somerset, NJ; two grandchildren: Gabriel Utasi of Las Vegas NV, and Sheila (Utasi) Hirschauer of Maineville Ohio; and two great-grandchildren; Cougar and Colton Hirschauer of Maineville, OH.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday, September 29 from 7:45 a.m. until 8:30 a.m.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 29 beginning 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 9:00 a.m. funeral liturgy at Christ the Redeemer Parish, Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Manville. Stella will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough.
