Hillsborough, NJ- Sylvester Hull, 96, entered into eternal life on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at All American Assisted Living in Hillsborough.  Born in Perth Amboy, NJ, son of the late Sylvester and Mary Hull, he spent his childhood in New York City and Ukraine before returning to the US, living in Manville, NJ.  In his later years, he resided in Flemington, NJ.

A member of "The Greatest Generation," Sylvester faithfully enlisted with the United States Navy as a Seabee from 1943 to 1946.  He served in the Aleutian Islands during the Battle of Attu, and he was stationed in Japan during the Battle of Okinawa.  In 2004, he was proud to attend the dedication of the WWII Memorial in Washington, DC.  Sylvester retired in 1994 after many years of employment as a construction supervisor for Punia Company of Somerset, NJ.  He was a skilled craftsman and founder and owner of "Sy Hull Builder" of Manville.  He designed and built many homes throughout Somerset and Union Counties, in addition to office buildings and an apartment complex.  Sylvester was a past member of Holy Ghost Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church in Manville.  He had interests in astronomy, photography, and gardening, while also enjoying international travel.  He was a well-read man, who was fluent in Ukrainian and proficient in Slovak, Russian and Polish. As he aged, he kept up with current and political events through a "tech savvy" lens.

Besides his parents, Sylvester was predeceased by his beloved first wife of 33 years, Margaret Rose Hull; his second wife of 15 years, Leda Sobol; and three brothers, Michael Keka, Alex Hull, and Joseph Hull.

Sylvester is survived by two loving daughters, Audrey and her husband Anthony of Hillsborough and Dorothy and her husband Michael Daniel of Scotch Plains, NJ.  Fondly referred to as "Deda" he will be deeply missed by three cherished grandchildren, Eve and her husband Adam, Emily, and Michael Sylvester; two step grandchildren, Nicole and Daniel; and three adored great grandchildren, Avery, William, and Paige.

A viewing will take place at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Monday, August 10 ^th from 10-11 a.m. with the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. officiated by Fr. Ken Ellis.  Committal words and interment will follow at Holy Ghost Carpatho Russian Orthodox Cemetery in Hillsborough.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sylvester's memory to Friends of Somerset County Youth, P.O.
