Tessie (née Barthushak) Nevitt, aged 92, passed into eternal life on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Tessie was born at home in Manville, New Jersey, on September 25, 1933, and was the daughter of the late Alex and Clara (née Dudra) Bartusak. She remained a lifelong resident of Manville.

Tessie graduated from Dunellen High School with the Class of 1951. She maintained one job from her high school years until her retirement at Blumberg & Rosenberg Law Firm, where she served as a title searcher and also took on the roles of legal secretary and bookkeeper. A lifelong member of Ss. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church in Manville since her baptism in her youth, she contributed as a school teacher, choir member, and council member at the church. Tessie found joy in volunteering there as a pierogi maker and dedicated her Sundays to working in the counting room, where she completed balance sheets and made bank deposits.

During her leisure time, Tessie relished participating in Saturday night poker games alongside her closest friends from the Edson and Kovacs families. She frequently embarked on excursions with the Manville Senior Citizen Club to various casinos and other destinations. Tessie spent many happy hours vacationing in the Maine woods and at the trailer in upstate New York. Always engaged in activities, Tessie took pleasure in assembling jigsaw puzzles, reading literature, and preparing meals and baked goods for festive occasions, such as the annual Bartushak Family Reunion. Her family and friends appreciated her unique recipes for stuffed cabbage and spritz cookies.

Besides her parents, Tessie is also predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard Nevitt, who died on November 30, 2008; and siblings, Mary Rosocha, Julia Warcola, Joseph Bartusek, and Jake Bartushak.

Tessie is survived and will be deeply missed by her children, Stacey and her husband Robert Kita of Manville, Carol and her husband John Tammara of Hillsborough, New Jersey, Christine and her husband JC Mayernik of Zebulon, North Carolina, Mark Nevitt and his wife Libbye of Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, and Jeffrey Nevitt of Somerset, New Jersey; dear brother, Andrew Bartushak and his wife Bobbi; 13 cherished grandchildren, Amanda Nagele, Matthew Kita, Nicholas Kita, John Tammara, Jason Mayernik, Kyle Mayernik, Mindilyn Jorgensen, Derek Mayernik, Daria Mayernik, Michael Mayernik, Leigh Kulp, Kalyn Nevitt, and Liam Nevitt; and 14 great grandchildren, Richard, Philip, Morgan, Hayden, Ashtyn, Benson, Kaitlyn, Camdyn, Alex, Ethan, Landon, Matthew, Lexie, and Freya. And dozens of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, located at 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 from 5-8 p.m. with the Panikhida at 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday, November 6, from 8:45-9:15 a.m. The funeral service will begin at the funeral home on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. and continue at Ss. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church in Manville at 10:00 a.m. Committal words and interment will follow at Ss. Peter and Paul Orthodox Cemetery in Hillsborough.
