Manville, NJ- Theresa (Petras) Kaschak, 83, entered into eternal life on Friday, December 3, 2010 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville surrounded by her loving family. Born in Raritan Borough to John and Anna (Verbicky) Petras, Theresa settled in Manville 58 years ago.
For 50 years, Theresa was a faithful and dedicated communicant of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Manville. She served as a church office volunteer for 40 years and took an active role in all facets of church life, especially the festival. Theresa was also a member of the Altar Rosary Society, serving as president for eleven, a former Sacred Heart PTA president, general co-chairman for the Diamond Jubilee Ball, and a Beta Sigma Phi past president. In addition to volunteering with her church, Theresa was a member and secretary of the Manville Rescue Squad Auxiliary.
An avid bowler in her younger years, Theresa was a former member of the JM Bowling League. She worked as a secretary with Johns Manville Corporation in Manville before beginning business ventures with her husband Tom. Together they owned and operated Kaschak Shoe Store TJK Travel Agency in Manville, where she pursued her passion for travel by serving as a guide and visiting places all around the world.
In addition to her parents, Theresa was predeceased by her beloved husband, Thomas J. Kaschak, Sr., who passed away on August 20, 1999.
Theresa leaves behind her four devoted children: son and daughter-in-law Thomas J. Kaschak, Jr. and Sharon of Bridgewater; three daughters and two sons-in-law: Janice Kaschak-Adams and Greg Adams, Susan and Ronnie Delli Santi, all of Warren; Rea Kaschak of Hillsborough; Theresa will be deeply missed by her cherished granddaughters: Jordan and Taylor Kaschak, Kimberly Adams and Christina Delli Santi. She is survived by her loving siblings: sister, Helen Gilmore of Raritan and brother John Petras and wife Helen of Centennial, CO; brother-in-law Richard Kaschak and wife Susan of Lake Worth, FL; and sister-in-law Betty Ann Cowen of Manville; as well as many dear cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and her cherished canine friend Sneakers.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Wednesday, December 8 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m., and on Thursday, December 9 from 8:45 a.m. until 9:00 a.m.
Funeral services will begin 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home on Thursday, December 9 followed by a 9:30 a.m. funeral liturgy at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Manville. Theresa will be laid to rest beside her husband at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough.
