Manville, NJ – Violet (Lysy) Raczkowski, 87, entered into eternal life on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital-New Brunswick, NJ with her loving son at her side.  The daughter of the late Max and Tekla (Vozne) Lysy, she resided in Manville all her life.

Violet graduated from Bound Brook High School in 1947 and went on to graduate from Rider College with a Bachelor's degree in 1951.   Violet retired in 1986 after thirty five years as a teacher for the Manville Board of Education.  She was very involved with township activities such as the Manville Democratic Club, the Manville Wrestling Club, the Manville Education Association and New Jersey Education Association (NJEA).  Violet volunteered with Meals on Wheels as well as with Sacred Heart Church's annual summer festival.  She particularly enjoyed traveling and looked forward to her weekly dinners with her son, Chet.  She deeply appreciated the thoughtful, caring friendships of her neighbors on Harrison Avenue.  Violet was a communicant of Christ the Redeemer Parish (SHC) in Manville.

Violet was predeceased by her beloved husband, Chester S. Raczkowski on April 19, 1998; five brothers, Paul, William, John, Stephen and Nicholas Lysy and three sisters, Mary Lysy, Anna Harasymiak and Olga Lazorchak.

Violet is survived by her loving son, Chester J. Raczkowski of Manville and brother, Harry Lysy of Sinking Spring, PA.   She also leaves behind many dear nieces and nephews.
