Manville, NJ- William Andy Poch, Sr., 87, entered eternal life on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 10, 1924 in Cardiff, PA, son of the late John and Barbara Alice (Behory) Poch, he settled to Manville in 1927.

Bill was honorably discharged from the United States Navy having faithfully served his country from 1943-1946 as a Storekeeper Second Class with Task-Force 24, North Atlantic Anti-submarine duty. He was a member of the VFW Post #2290 and the American Legion Post #304 both in Manville. He was an active member of the Reformed Church at Finderne in Bridgewater having served as Elder, Vice-President of Consistory for forty years and Finance Chairman for thirty-eight years. Bill retired in 1988 as Traffic and Distribution Manager with S.S. White Corporation, a Division of Pennwalt Corporation. Prior, he was a Traffic Manager for thirty years at Diehl Manufacturing Company, a Division of Singer Sewing Machine Company. Bill was active in local and county level Republican politics. He served from 1946-1949 with the Manville Board of Health, 1950-1955 with the American Red Cross Manville Chapter, 1968-1984 with the Manville Board of Education, having served as President from 1969-1973 and as Chairman of the Building Program Committee, responsible for building Alexander Batcho Intermediate School in 1971 and from 1986 to 1991 served as Borough Councilman also having been Council President and Finance Chairman. Bill also served on the Somerset Raritan Valley Sewerage Authority in 1993 having been Chairman in 2000-2002 and as a Trustee of the Manville Public Library for several years beginning in 1993 and as President for 5 years. In 2007, Bill was honored to be presented with the Mayor's Citizenship Award for his loyal service to his community. Bill loved the game of golf.

Bill leaves behind his devoted wife Margaret (Heyse) Poch with whom he joined hands in marriage in 1949; two loving children, son William A. Poch, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Millstone and daughter Rebecca and her husband Peter Bell of Westbrook, Maine. He will be deeply missed by four cherished granddaughters, Melissa Jones, Jessica Foley, Natalie and Emily Bell; two precious great grandchildren, Allie and Tyler Jones and by his beloved nephew Alex J. Sudul, Jr. and his wife Cynthia of Plano, Texas.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 on Thursday, December 8 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Friday, December 9 from 9-9:30 a.m.

The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Friday, December 9 beginning at 9:30 a.m. with Rev. Warren Seibert officiating. Committal words and entombment will follow at Franklin Memorial Park in North Brunswick.
